The Rattery Chimère is located in Quebec, in Chaudière-Appalaches. Deliveries are made to collection points provided in advance in a neutral and public place. The choice of location is selected by the Chimère rattery

Our domestic rat breeding is carried out in a rattery closed to the public to protect the health of our rat colony. Visits to the rattery are therefore prohibited, without exception.

Rat breeder profession

As a rat breeder, I base myself on my own ideology of what an ideal rat breeder is for me. When I started toying with the idea of becoming a rat breeder, I asked myself what I wanted for my lines of pet rats and also, what I didn’t want.

Principle that I respect as a rat breeder

Always put the well-being of the rat first and this involves studying the applications of adopters in order to avoid taking such photos.

Understand that when I see this rat abandoned in the wild, I can't help but have a twinge in my heart since I automatically think of this raccoon from the Chimera rattery.

Do you now understand what the adoption form is for, and why I hope that a good part of the adopters )s of the Chimera rattery respond sincerely to the questions put to them? These questions are intended to make potential adopters reflect on the responsibilities involved in the process of adopting sentient and living beings. As far as possible, my role is to protect the baby rats in my rattery from being abandoned by his human.

I suspect that some adopters who answer the adoption form opt for the answers that they know full well that I am looking for and that I hope to be able to read. I learned a principle in life.

When it's too good to be true, it really is too good to be true.

Sometimes I find it funny to read certain answers that are a little exaggerated and in those moments, I have the distinct impression that the potential adopter ) just want to answer me:

Do I really have to answer this long questionnaire? I just want socialized baby rats who won't bite my fingers and who won't run off into the house at the first opportunity, because playing hide and seek with the rats under an old bookcase stored in my cellar, uh no ... I pass my turn! And if possible, I want to adopt raccoons soon, not in 3 months please. Thank you!

For my part, I cannot criticize or analyze the attitude and choices of other owners of rateries because one, it is none of my business and two , I don't want to focus on others, because I'm not in the minds of other rat breeders so by the same token, I'm not able to really understand what's going on in their minds. It's up to them to look at themselves in a mirror as well as in their own internal mirror.

The only thing I can express is my disagreement with certain practices that I find inhumane. I believe that with awareness, they will eventually stop. I'm not one to develop a feeling of animosity towards a person who exhibits behavior that I disapprove of. It's the behavior I don't like, not the person. I'm not a judge by profession, I'm a web developer, so I'm not able to sue anyone.

I take care of my own spleen, and I won't start dealing with anyone else's. If some rat breeders have the energy and time to waste evaluating the work of others, let them go down this path, but for my part, I organize myself to integrate all the energy that my rats and my baby rats give me in their own personal development. Thus, the energy circulates in a constructive exchange of good waves that do not disperse to all sides. These healthy vibrations participate in the development of a process that tends to soar upwards to reach the summits and not to plunge downwards, straight towards its antipode.

I don't feel the need to compare myself to others because I trust my little balls of love, my pet rats, who guide me through life. active listening that I demonstrate when faced with their behavior and their needs. By listening to the needs of my own colony of rats, and not relying solely on the foundations of the experiments of other rattery owners, I bring my own stone to the edifice of the world of pet rat breeding by building my Chimera universe where my humanized rats create their own world and make their humans happy.

It is several months of analysis and information collected of all kinds that convey several currents of thought within the world of pet rat breeding that have confirmed in my position from the beginning, that is to favor my own experiences, to rely on my instinct and my judgment, and not to continue the work of another rat breeder. Initially, the question that kept coming back to me was the following:

What is the point of relying on a baggage of knowledge that is not your own, if it is only the ease of not having learned anything by yourself?

Since then, water has flowed under the bridge and decidedly, I still think the same thing...that is to say that I don't want to continue the work of another rat breeder. As said before, I see no interest in this approach since I would not have learned anything, nor measured, nor evaluated by myself from this lineage entrusted to me. What really interests and excites me is to lay my own foundations which will in themselves be more solid to develop lines that achieve constantly improving results, since I will master every aspect on my own. of the evolution of each of my lines. If I am missing parameters that are an integral part of the methods used to proceed with the breeding of rats from a line developed by another rat breeder, then my assumptions made in the process of improving this last line become biased. , since I have not been there to observe every result, consequence and outcome due to the selection of breeding rats and breeding rats of this line.

The path traveled by the rats of a line and by the rat breeder

éleveur de rats et lignée

I am proud of my rats, my rats as well as my pups and that, regardless of the outcome of a line and its level of perfection.
