We always give preference to adopters who wish to adopt 3 rats over those who wish to adopt only 2 rats because rats are happier living with 3 than with 2. If you are unsure of any of the items listed below, please feel free to ask for clarification. Under no circumstances will we release rats to a minor adopter under the age of 18 without the full consent of a parent or guardian. If the minor is not caring for the rodent, this responsibility will fall to the parent or guardian.

The price of Chimera Rattery rats is what I have invested in money, time and effort. Chimera rat prices are not negotiable. Rats will only be sold in pairs, trios or quartets that always include rats of the same sex. All new animals must be quarantined and no rat should be left alone during this period, again emphasizing the gregarious nature of the rat. Chimera does not do custom breeding. The breeding of rats at Chimera is done for my personal objectives and goals which are part of a well thought out process and not for the "production of litters galore" to suit the fashion of the moment or what is popular as a fancy rat. Chimera's breeding works like a closed breeding. Videos and photos are available of the colony and of all the rats available for adoption.

The collection points are planned in advance, in a neutral and public place. Please arrive on time for the pick-up of your rats. The person in charge of the delivery cannot wait more than 20 minutes. We ask you to be respectful of our time which is precious to us as well as yours. If you are late, please contact Rattery Chimère

You must bring a carrier that closes securely for transporting baby rats. If you have a long distance to travel, please take care to protect your rats from drafts within your car. A 60% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve baby rats or for rats that cannot be picked up immediately. A deposit is only refunded if I have to cancel the sale of the rats, for whatever reason. Adoption fees must be paid in full by e-transfer or Paypal. The rat adoption price will be decided before booking. Deposits are only accepted by e-Transfer or Paypal. La Raterie Chimère does not accept cash deposits. Dates ready for pickup points will be posted on the appointment calendar page. Once your rats are reserved and are available for collection, they must be collected within a week (or shipped within 2 weeks) or you will lose your deposit and your rats will be placed elsewhere. It is the responsibility of the adopter to make the necessary arrangements for the transport of his rat(s).

It is the adopter's responsibility to provide everything the rats need once they leave the Chimera rattery. This includes, at a minimum but is not limited to: -safe and clean housing, -appropriate food to meet the nutritional needs of the rats, -fresh water, -appropriate bedding -all medical care.

If the adopter can no longer take care of his rats or has to return them for any reason, the rats must be returned to our Chimera rattery. It is the responsibility of the adopter/owner to organize the transport of the rats to the rattery Chimera and to cover the transport costs. In special circumstances, transportation will be arranged with the adopter.

The Chimera Ratery accepts no rescue of any kind. Please contact a local rescue service for assistance in these situations.

Please notify us if your animal suffers from genetic complications. We monitor our lines and use this information to improve the health of future rats that will be part of these lines. All rats in the Chimera rattery are adopted as pets only and not for breeding unless expressly permitted. We have the right to refuse adoption of rats at our discretion. We are not obliged to justify a refusal. Rattery Chimère has the right to change this policy at any time.
